History
1988
MGS (Marton Geotechnical Services) was formed as a partnership in 1988 by the two directors, Martin Clegg and Tony Osborne, initially to provide products to the UK on-shore drilling industry mainly wellscreen and Bentonite pellets.
The company grew quickly and began adding to its product range for drillers. The introduction of new landfill gas monitoring legislation through Paper 27 in the UK Landfill Industry led to a demand for HDPE wellscreen and other HDPE products.

1990
The company incorporated as Marton Geotechnical Services Ltd and continued to add products through strategic partnerships with manufacturers from Europe and the USA for landfill and groundwater remediation applications.
1992
Acquired the company Geosense Ltd, which provided Geotechnical Instrumentation products worldwide. Under the MGS umbrella it developed its own range of vibrating wire sensors which, together with other products, are sold under the Geosense brand. MGS purchased a 1 hectare freehold property at Rougham Industrial Estate in Suffolk
1997
Redeveloped the site with 3000 square metres of purpose-built manufacturing facilities for the manufacture of Geosense and plastic fabrication products together with the main distribution of products for the UK drilling industry.
1998
Introduction into UK landfill market of telescopic pipe systems designed and developed by MGS following extensive discussions with the landfill industry and legislators. Telescopic systems accommodate the large settlements which occur in landfill sites and provide a long-term sustainable monitoring and extraction solution.
2000
Designed, developed and introduced to the market a range of pneumatic environmental pumps including the GeoPump, PosiFlo and GeoSkimmer, used worldwide for groundwater remediation and landfill leachate applications.
2002
Acquired the company DEMCO. Based in Coventry, it was the original UK manufacturer of thermoplastic wellscreen provided to the site investigation and water well drilling industry. Other products included HDPE slotted pipe and methane venting systems.
2003
Acquired the company Terraequip (now MGS Europe), distributors and manufacturers of products for the on-shore drilling industry and Geothermal heat recovery in Germany and other European territories.
Appointed European & MENA distributor for RST Instruments of Canada.
2005
Achieved Network Rail Certificate of Acceptance (PA05/02084) for the TerraRange under track drainage system.
2006
Purchased a 1.3 hectare green field site in Coventry and developed a 3200 square metre purpose-built additional manufacturing facility for the slotting, perforating and machining of thermoplastic products together with a main distribution centre for pipes and fittings primarily for the landfill and rail industries.
2007
Introduced a full range of SKZ certified Geothermal heat recovery loops, probes and accessories into the UK market from our German subsidiary MGS Europe.
