Loop Installer demo

It's a brand new concept: A machine which installs ground source heat loops and geothermal conductive pellets at the same time.

And it was unveiled this month on the MGS stand at the trade exhibition Geotechnica.

The Loop Installer is a joint development between borehole sealants expert Ton Timmermans, of Dutch company Terratech, and MGS. A prototype of the new machine was brought over from Holland and seen in action for the first time.

Like many of the best ideas, it's a simply concept. Once the bordehole is drilled, (the rig is no longer required - saving money) the whole operation of installing pipe and thermal conductive sealant can be done in one hit by one person. The Loop Installer places the loop, at the same time sending a mix of Mikolit-TS pellets and water into the borehole.

Mikolit-TS is a patented clay based pellet with a special graphite thermal enhancer with a very low dust content which ensures a delayed swelling action to allow placement up to depths of 150 metres. The Loop Installer has been developed to take advantage of these specific qualities.
