Water Well Casing (BS 879)

Water Well Casing is typically referred to as BS 879. Whilst this standard has officially been withdrawn on 2nd August 2017 the dimensions are still referenced in EN ISO 22475-1.

It is manufactured from thick walled, heavy duty, high quality cold drawn steel with male and female flush-joints and is installed to depth using casing shoes and pull back head adaptors.

It is often used as temporary casing through overburden before coring or open hole drilling is continued or with shell and auger drilling rigs.
