MGS’s Pagani TG 63-150 rig will be used during an important training course on Cone Penetration Testing next month.

The event takes place at Brunel University, London, on November 6-7 where the rig is permanently sited for use in training and demonstrations.

On the first day of the course, from 14:00 to 15:00, the Pagani rig will be used to demonstrate CPTu testing. On the second day, between 14:00  and 14:30 MGS will be demonstrating Seismic CPT tests, following on from a morning talk on the advantages of other CPTu sensors. Equipe Training Seminar – CPT in Geotechnical Practice (2019)

Wellheads and special open manifolds have been produced by MGS for use on a landfill site in Romania.

Working closely with consultant and contractor LGS and flare manufacturer Automatic Flare Systems (AFS) Ltd, MGS designed and built a total of 77 250mm wellheads and four open manifolds which were despatched last week.

Steve Willacy, MD of AFS, commented: “I have worked with Dave Bland, Division Manager at MGS, for more than 15 years. The combined knowledge and skills he and MGS offer are unique and provide us with confidence when offering our services in the landfill waste industry”.

MGS is exhibiting at the annual Heat Pump Conference next week.

Organised by the Ground Source Heat Pump Association, this year’s conference includes The GSHP Big Challenge Debate and asks the question “How do we, as an industry, raise the profile of ground and water source heat pumps to become the mainstream choice for heating and cooling?”

The event, which takes place on Tuesday,17 September, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, incudes presentations on current and future policy and from sponsors and exhibitors on the latest technical developments in ground source energy.

Alucast – the revolutionary lightweight alternative to traditional cast iron covers have arrived!

MGS this week took delivery of the first stock from Canadian manufacturer Alucast Industries.

Alucast well covers are gaining popularity as an alternative to standard cast iron covers and, as the name suggests, are made from high quality H-20 aluminium. MGS is the UK distributor.

“We believe it is the most complete monitoring well cover on the market today,” said Alucast Director of Operations Jeff Garby.

“MGS sees this cover as a significant addition to our range. We are delighted to bring this product to the UK,” said MGS Drilling Division Manager Darren Portway.

Steel Fabrication Manager Wayne Osborne today celebrates 25 years with MGS.

Directors Tony Osborne and Martin Clegg presented him with the company’s traditional long-service gift – an engraved silver wine coaster.

“Wayne’s enthusiasm for the job is as strong today as it was when he started. He has played an important part in the success of the company,” said Martin.
